Every Foodie in Dubai has definitely had Trèsind as their top option on their Foodie wish list. Ambience wise I believe they could do better as there is nothing too remarkable about the view from the restaurant but the seating and lights do bring out a royal feel.
As soon as we were seated they placed a jar on the table with fragrant smoke coming out of it. What I appreciate most is they try to involve all 5 senses - smell, hear, touch, see and taste as every dish is more like a fusion of food and magic.
We opted for the Ala carte and opted for 3 dishes – 2 Starters and 1 Dessert which is more than sufficient for 2 people. Along with your order you also get not just ordinary but mindblowing complimentary creations.
Amuse – Bouche
Kadak Pao
Mini Pao which is hardened served with salsa freshly made at your table using a stone grinder with different ingredients, pindi channa hummus and pickled olives. The fact that the complimentary dishes are so remarkable shows how seriously they take their food.
Deconstructed Pani Puri
Easily one of the most talked about dishes here. The preparation is done in front of your eyes more like a lab experiment and they have removed the element of the puri and turned the chutney into a bubble with boondi to give it the crunch factor and it literally bursts into your mouth.
Drinks:
Lava Lamp (Passion Fruit)
A long tubular vessel to make the drink preparation resemble a lava lamp. The passion fruit mixture was poured in along with cranberries, blueberries and Passionfruit seeds which kept bubbling up and down due to the fizz and once settled poured into glasses and served. (Highly Recommended)
Starters:
Modernized Chaat Trolley
This is definitely a must order if you’re visiting Tresind for the first time as its not any kind of ordinary chaat. Apparently I believe the quantity is adjusted to the number of people at the table. It started with frozen dhoklas being broken down into pieces and topped with chutneys and other fancy stuff and adjusted according to your preference.
- Chicken Kurchan
The cutest presentation of a dish which comes with super tiny rotis called as Roomali Pancakes served in a resemblance to a cloth drying line as it is hanging from the stick with wooden clips. 3 mini pans to fill your roti with – cucumber and onions, green chutney and a boneless chicken preparation which is so flavourful; and an extra plate of mini rotis.
Being located in a 5 star hotel their portions aren’t as tiny as you’d expect a fancy restaurant to be, which is why by the end of the starters we were so stuffed we had no place for mains.
Desserts:
Deconstructed Black Forrest
Yet another table service where pieces of chocolate cake, dodha barfi (milk based fudge), topped with cherries, chocolate sauce, chocolate chips and frozen whipped cream. You have to order it to experience it because it can’t be described although the chocolate sponge was a bit dry it went beautifully with the rest of the ingredients.
Finally we got the complimentary Paan flavoured Candy floss served like a tree on a mini bus. Do have this as soon as possible since the sugar begins to melt, also the paan flavor is really mild. Overall a highly delightful experience, despite being a big hit on the pocket the entire experience makes it worth it and I would be doing injustice to the restaurant if I review them less than 5. Every dish stood out and definitely a place you must visit if you live in Dubai. |
